THAT’S A WRAP! Massive thanks from St. Tiernan’s CC!

Hi all,

On behalf of St. Tiernan’s CC, we want to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported, entered, and helped out at the inaugural Wicklow Classic last Sunday. The feedback we’ve received across the board has been incredibly positive, and we are absolutely delighted you all had a great—if punishing—day out in the hills.

When we set out to create this event, we wanted to build on the proud legacy of the Laragh Classic and put a truly unique, hardman's one-day race back onto the Irish domestic calendar. Hearing riders say it was one of the toughest one-day routes in the country makes all the months of planning worth it. (And yes, we’ve heard the feedback about the long spin back to HQ after conquering the Gap—consider that the ultimate warm-down! 😂)

An event of this scale simply doesn't happen without a massive team effort. We want to extend our sincere gratitude to:

  • The Volunteers: Over 50 STCC club members and drivers gave up their Bank Holiday Sunday morning to marshal corners, drive lead cars, and handle logistics. Their energy and enthusiasm are the exact reason the race ran so smoothly.

  • Ballymore Eustace GAA Club: Huge thanks for granting us full access to their fantastic facilities as our Race HQ.

  • An Garda Síochána: For their invaluable guidance in the 7-month lead-up and their stellar traffic control on the day.

  • The Cycling Community: Thank you to Cycling Ireland, Cycling Leinster, and some of the most experienced race promoters in the country who selflessly lent us their advice and expertise.

  • The Riders: Most of all, thank you to the 104 riders who pinned on a number and travelled from all over the country to take a gamble on a brand-new race. You made it a special day for the club.

All feedback is incredibly valuable to us as a small club. We’re going to take everything we learned this year to build, refine, and make next year's edition even better.

Enjoy the recovery, and we’ll see you for the next edition of the Wicklow Classic!
