The Heart of the Club: Leisure & Sportive Riding at STCC
While you might see our jerseys leading the pack in local races, the real heartbeat of St. Tiernan’s CC happens on those long, chatty spins through the Dublin and Wicklow mountains. For us, the "non-competitive" side of cycling isn't about going slow—it’s about going together. Whether we’re training for a bucket-list sportive like the Wicklow 200 or the Ring of Kerry, or just heading out for a Saturday morning Wicklow loop, our goal is to ensure every rider feels supported, included, and (most importantly) fueled by a decent coffee and cake.
Since we first hit the road back in 1984, STCC has been built on the idea that cycling is better when shared. Our leisure groups cater to all levels of experience; we pride ourselves on being a club where seasoned veterans ride alongside newcomers, sharing tips on everything from gear to the best local climbs. We know that joining a club can feel a bit daunting, but at St. Tiernan’s, you’ll find a group that values the social aspect of riding, just as much as the kilometres on the clock.
If you’re looking for a community that prioritises the simple joy of being out on two wheels, you’ve found it. From our organised sportive trips abroad to our weekly club spins, the focus is always on the collective experience. It’s not about how fast you get to the top of the Sally Gap—it’s about the stories we tell along the way.
