Corr new Chair after Committee shake up
CONGRATULATIONS to David Corr who was elected our new Club Chair at our AGM last Tuesday night in St. Tiernan’s Community School.
He takes over from Barry Doyle, who is also stepping down from his place at the head of the Friends First Laragh Classic Committee, and will double as Touring Secretary – a position he has made his own in the past 12 months.
Doyle leaves a strong legacy, having taken the Laragh Classic from its infancy to one of the best events on the road racing calendar, as its recent Cycling Ireland Awards nomination proves.
His skills as an architect and project manager have played a significant part in the success of the running of our race and in the growth of the club. Chapeau Barry.
Corr needs no introduction; in his first year as Touring Secretary he has put together a successful Paris Roubaix mission in April, as well as organising and riding in the winning Racing Around Ireland project in August.
Another major shake up on the executive committee is the exit of Richie Gallagher from his role as Racing Secretary.
He has done a standout job of mentoring, organising and training our racers to improve from a strong A4 crowd to strong across the categories, and hinting at A1 potential.
He leaves big boots for incoming Racing Secretary John Malone to fill.
Two more newcomers to the Club Committee, with Race Around Ireland Team member Ciaran Ruane and Racer of the Year nominee Colly Murray joining the select group of people who you can blame for Winter Spin Routes and the lack of coffee stops on your spin.
Minutes from the AGM will be emailed to all members over the next week.
