Club Spin 10th Feb

The gods frowned upon us again last Saturday with wet and blustery weather for most of the spin which took in Lucan, Kilcock, Enfield, Prosperous, Sallins, Arclough and Newcastle. The early part of the spin was dominated by some of the heavy hitters in the group intent on keeping a very steady pace for the first 25/30km as part of preparation for the racing season.

The pace increased rapidly after the 6 STCC lads were joined by 4 riders from the ‘Cycleways Club’. Given the conditions on the day the extra riders provided some distraction from the atrocious conditions, new conversation and some added shelter in the group as we clocked up 35km together at a fairly high intensity, well at least for some of us! After we split up a majority vote saw us head to Sallins for a well deserved coffee. Some good quality training on the way home added to the morning’s enjoyment with a total distance of 110km from the Maldrin. (for data protection reasons we cannot disclose the details of the vote!)
